I tried to force PHP to show the error but nothing happened.

Form code:

  • Is this a ready-made library or did you do it?

Errors in executing your code are not shown because the library uses error control operator, the sign @ in front of the expression, this causes any error message of the expression to be ignored.

error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors', 1);

This happens even when you determine to show errors with the function error_reporting and ini_set.

The function responsible for writing the letters in the image is the function imagettftext. In the code who calls this function is the method drawWord() on the line 590.

@imagettftext($this->im, $this->font_size, $angle, $x, $y, $font_color,
$this->ttf_file, $this->code{$i});

It is quite likely that the error is on this line, make sure that the variable $ttf_file (line 96) keep the correct path to the source to be used.

Securimage

Alternatively, the Securimage of the site phpcaptcha.org, is free and open-source and offers a wider range of options.

See an example of usage:

<?php

require_once 'securimage.php';

$captchaId = (isset($_GET['id'])) ? $_GET['id'] : ''; // Obtem o id do captcha, se fornecido

if (isset($_GET['validate'])) { // Se a opção de validação estiver definida
    $code = (isset($_GET['code'])) ? $_GET['code'] : '';
    if (Securimage::checkByCaptchaId($captchaId, $code) == true) { // Retorna True se o ID e o captcha são válidos
        echo "<span style='color: #33cc00'>O código captcha digitado esta correto!</span><br />";
    }else{
        echo "<span style='color: #f00'>Código captcha incorreto, tente novamente.</span><br />";
    }

} else if (isset($_GET['display'])) { // Exibe o captcha com o ID fornecido a partir da URL
    $options = array('captchaId'  => $captchaId, // Armazena o captcha existente
                     'no_session' => true); // Diz para não iniciar a sessão
    $captcha = new Securimage($options);
    $captcha->show(); // Exibe a imagem
    exit;
}

$captchaId = Securimage::getCaptchaId(); // Gera um novo desafio

echo <<<EOT
    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8">
    <title>Verificar Captcha</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <h2>Você é humano?</h2>
    <div>
      <img src="{$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']}?display&amp;id=$captchaId" alt="Captcha Image" /><br />

      <form method="get" action="{$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']}">
        <input type="hidden" name="validate" value="1" />
        <input type="hidden" name="id" value="$captchaId" />
        <br>Captcha:
        <input type="text"  name="code" value="" autocomplete="off" />
        <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Verificar" />
      </form>
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>
EOT;

?>
