Looking for a Wordpress compatible version of PHP 5.2.17.

I already scanned the site, but I do not find requirements of old versions. My last attempt was with Wordpress 3.8.

  • According to the site of Wordpress itself, the smallest version required of PHP is 5.2.4. You are having trouble with any specific function?

  • It just won’t. I do the database setup, but when it goes to the install.php file it stops. It doesn’t load, it returns nothing. It stays in this.

  • Weird. I have a wordpress page on a free Webhost that has PHP 5.2.x and works ok. You downloaded the files and are following the configuration Wizard, is that it? I followed these steps here: How to Install Wordpress? Step-by-step Manual Wordpress Installation Guide, if you want to confirm that you are doing something different.

According to the History of Launches available in Codex the version that fixed PHP 5.2.4 as the minimum required version was 3.1 (Gershwin) released in 2011.

So, by deduction, version 3.0 is compatible with PHP 5.2.17, which can be confirmed by that post in the Wordpress forum.

As for the download of this older version, you have the Release Archive at your disposal.

  • It worked, it was simply the PHP version.

Hi @user7531, very careful with old versions of PHP and Wordpress that may have serious security errors allowing hackers attacks.
