You guys, good morning.
I need to change the admin area of my wordpress site out of wp-admin, creating another link with the name I want.

What I get is that I’m not in the mood for prying looking around the site and want to protect myself from common attacks Enjoy force, I will create a link if possible more complicated. That is to say:

Instead of having this

www.linkdomeusite.com/wp-admin

I need to have something like:

www.linkdomeusite.com/brftysTyKjh

Does anyone have any tips? Do you know how to do this?
I don’t have access to the server. The old developer of the site did me the favor of not updating PHP nor providing me access.
What do I do?

Bianca, welcome to Stackoverflow!

First of all, renaming or moving the directory "wp-admin" is not advisable as it will break your entire Wordpress application, since this directory is set in the core of CMS.

Now, remapping the login URL to another is possible by adding a "filter_action" and creating a rule in the . htaccess file at the root of the system. However, this requires access to the server where the system is hosted.

How you want to make this change for security reasons (avoid bruteforce attacks) is quite unnecessary, just have an active SSL certificate and have the support of the services of a company like Cloudflare, which with the free account is already of great help to avoid these types of attacks.

  • Show. Thank you so much, Cesar!

  • For nothing Bianca, have a great day!
