I’ve been studying the advantages of using a graph oriented databank and when I went to assess the cost for use at work, I didn’t find much information. I mainly studied the Neo4j, that for startup is free, but for more professional use is paid and has no value on the site.

Is there a free graph-oriented database for commercial use?

If it doesn’t exist, someone knows about the values of one of them?

Thank you for your reply. I evaluated and noticed that Arangodb has Community and Enterprise versions, but the community already resolves in my case, because it has an Apache 2 license that allows commercial use. I will take time to evaluate the list of others as well. Thanks!

Neo4j has two versions:

Community Edition: distributed under Gplv3 license.

Enterprise Edition: distributed under Agplv3 license.

The Enterprise version has extra features and functionality. For example, in the Enterprise version you can create uniqueness restrictions on properties (e.g., the property nome of us with label :Usuário should be unique). Other features such as hot backups, are also only available in the Enterprise version. You can see the features of each version in detail here at this link.

If you need the Nterprise version and your company fits some requirements, you can be part of the Program for Neo4j Startups:

  • Less than 50 employees and turnover less than $3 million per year: special price.
  • Less than 20 employees and revenue less than $3 million annually: free.
