The "breakthrough" of cloud services technology will lead to Webservices in the cloud rather than a private network of enterprise X or even local network?

In my opinion, this question demands answers based on opinion and thus departs from the defined scope for the site. You can read the [Ask] guide and see if you can edit it accordingly.

Having cloud/cloud webservices has both advantages and disadvantages:

Perks:

  • it is not necessary to assemble the system which:
    • needs storage space
    • needs security for data integrity
    • need to have backups and maintenance systems and updates working

Disadvantages:

  • sometimes some webservices have slow connections because they are on remote servers (too far)
  • sometimes the data that we put or pass through the web service are covered by the law of the country where the server is and not the country of the company that runs it
  • sometimes the data is not 100% knowledgeable, Google and Dropbox (among others) have access to the data even if they do not disclose it. Not all companies accept this reality.
