How to scroll horizontal on tumblr?

Hello! I’ve tried many tutorials, but I can’t get anything. The base theme I’m trying to change is the next.

Writing the following does not cause the horizontal scroll to happen, only blocks the vertical:

body {
    overflow-y: hidden;
    overflow-x: scroll;
}
