I made some modifications in an app that was started by another developer. The modifications went all right and now I want to publish in Google Play. I followed the tutorial http://developer.android.com/tools/publishing/app-signing.html I change the version then mainly adopted the part that uses the ADT - > Android Tools -> Export Signed Application Package - I create a new store - Assino - Alinho e beleza.

But Google Play gives me a message saying that SHA1 certificates are different.

Do I have to generate apk with the same Keystore that was created by the initial developer? What if it lost the file what can I do?

Yes.

And if he lost the file what can I do?

Then the only way is to upload a new application and delete the previous one. Note that they will be different applications, which means that users will have to do another installation.

  • Just to complement, you will also lose all the statistics generated for the application that was lost the key.
