Form validation problem with Opencart

I own a website e-commerce on opencart and I have a little problem in the ID field which is as follows, when the user registers he fills all fields normally put in the RG field there are those users who have a digit less in RG they register normally on the site more when they will make a purchase can not completeI would like to know if it is possible to put a code that does the following when the user registers a RG with a digit less to add a 0 in the field so that it is complete. I believe this code goes inside the controller the form was not I who developed the website more have to make that change.

The ID has no unified numbering. The same individual may have Rgs issued by the local government, and may also use functional wallets such as CREA or CRM or military identities issued by the Army, for example. That is why I believe it is not recommended to adopt any kind of RG validation.
