I have a *.sql. file How do I transfer/use to a database?

Have the records in the database. (I was sent and do not know have the data inside my database, to then use with php)

The *.sql file does not represent the database, it does not contain the records and is not a copy of it.

This is a file of script, can contain database creation, queries, table creation, Inserts, and other SQL operations.

You can open it using a text editor, but in most of them (at least natively) you won’t be able to run this script.

How you had put the tag in question, you can open Mysql Workbench, connect to an instance of Mysql and open the file using CTRL+O on Windows or The on macOS.

If you have no Mysql instance installed, follow that link.

  • Thanks. it was possible to create the tables of the.file using the"open sql script " from Workbench. I couldn’t understand some concepts... Oce sent a link .. with the installation of sql ... Voce called it an instance of Mysql installed ... what differentiates between the management application and the instance? Workbench is a tool to use sql ... and this instance... helps me if I’m all wrong...

  • The instance is where your databases will be. Workbench is the manipulation tool, you don’t necessarily need to use it and there are many others.

Hello in if it is in phpmyadmin, you should click on import inserir a descrição da imagem aqui

And then you click on search and choose the sql file and right below you click on run. If it doesn’t work you can create a database and then import the data... I hope I help you

  • Thanks I made it... but I would like to understand a little more... I have only php7 on my computer. i have not installed xampetc any package, I use php by cmd windows command. in the browser : localhost:8080 inside a specific folder that I assigned to web files. type this ( cd www enter the folder after php -s holocahost:8080 .... ) I guess I don’t have phpMyAdim installed ... how can I know or access it ? i wrote localhost:8080/phpmyadim and gave error not located... .

  • I suggest you install Wamp already doing this on your computer, because it makes the process easier. But if you want to install https://www.phpmyadmin.net/ individually, you can access this site. But it would be more complicated. Have to see if you have phpmyadmin installed on the pc.
