I’m using the function:

=VLOOKUP(MAX($B$5:$B$11);$A$5:$A$11;1;0) in cell B23 in Excel 2010.

Result: #N/A!

Can someone help me fix my formula?

Thank you very much, Silvio.

You are looking for the maximum value of $B$5:$B$11 that is 118 in the column $A$5:$A$11 and returning a value from column A too, in this case it has nothing at all. The function is not finding any reference. The mistake #N/D happens when Excel can’t find what you asked for

I don’t know what search you want to do, but just adjust the function.

Next is the structure of this function:

=VLOOKUP(valor_procurado,matriz_tabela,número_índice_coluna,procurar_intervalo

value sought: the value to be located in the first column of the matrix.

matriz_table: the table of information in which the data are searched.

column index: the column number in the table matrix for which the corresponding value should be returned.

query range: is a logical value that specifies whether to find an exact match or an approximate match. If TRUE or unspecified, an approximate match is returned

Generally the matriz_table it is not only a column, because we look in the first column, but to return another column further ahead.

Hello, exchange all ";" for '," to see if it works properly!

Friend, making a correction, try to use the PROCV function instead of the one you are using, I believe it is a matter of language! (that’s why I asked to exchange the signals!

  • Hello Jr, if I change a comma, give a mathematical formula error! My excel is Japanese! After starting =VLOOKUP( use Ctrl A here to force the formula helper to appear and automatically inserts the ; .
