When executing the XAP-Beta-15.35-v0. 5.5-i386 get the following error:

virtualbox kernel driver not running

No driver has been installed in virtualbox and it is not running.

  • Mac OSX, Windows-32bit or Windows-64bit?

  • Windows 7 32 bits

  • It seems that with version 0.5.5, try updating to version 0.5.6 according to the answer http://answall.com/a/86628/3635

  • Thank you. I went to the site Xamarin and downloaded the version available in https://xamarin-android-player.s3.amazonaws.com/installer/Windows/Xamarin%20Android%20Player%20x32.exe E worked perfectly

As posted on Xamarin forum and can be resolved as mentioned by mridoni:

I used this link (I made a Couple of Attempts to "rewrite" it by hand, Starting from the link for 0.4.4):

http://xamarin-android-player.s3.amazonaws.com/player/win/0.5.6/XAP-Beta-15.36-v0.5.6-amd64.exe

The problem is that Since the Emulator (v0.5.5) doesn’t start at all, it Never prompts to upgrade from 0.5.5 to 0.5.6. I suppose that if you completely Uninstall, then install 0.4.4 (the version available from XAP’s main page), then you can upgrade successfully.

This means that the problem occurs in version 0.5.5, but does not occur in 0.5.6, so just do updgrade.

Extra

Note, the current version is 0.6.5, so if you can upgrade to this (see its compatibility and etc):

  1. install the latest version of XAP (0.5.6)

  2. If your windows is 8.1 or 10 download on the Oracle website the last VM Virtual Box version (the version installed by XAP is incompatible)

  3. When installing the new version of the Virtual VM Box make sure that it has installed the drivers

  4. Check your firewall or anti-virus if they have not blocked the running process(hard to happen but it costs nothing to try)
