How to define a field of type GEOGRAPHY in Genexus. This field is from SQL Server 2012. It is with him that we calculate the distances between two geographical coordinates (Latitude and Longitude)

Someone can inform me?

  • We still don’t have support in Genexus, but if Voce comes to the GX25 meeting, you can see this talk, or you can watch online later

From the version Genexus 15 starts to support different DBMS native Geography data type.

Here has more information.

Genexus has a semantic domain called Geolocation

This domain, when linked to an attribute, does not create the GEOGRAPHY data type in SQL Server 2012, because as the tool is multi database, to maintain a coherence, the information is stored in character format, with a comma separating latitude and longitude, e.g.: " -36.123 , -57.235".

To know the distance between coordinates, you can use the Getdistance method from API Geolocationapi.

If you need more support, you can contact me by email at [email protected]

I hope I’ve helped.
