After installing Android Studio, when opening (for the first time) you choose the theme and the following screen appears:
If I from 'Retry' does nothing, if I from Cancel appears the following message:

I had been facing this same problem on Windows 7 when I started Android Studio by Shortcut from Start Menu....
Solution: Run as Administrator
The problem was occurring because of disk permissions on Drive C:. Running the program as administrator allowed it to perform the download of all necessary components and now I can open Android Studio normally.

I’m not sure, but it’s possible that the error is the lack of Maven installed on the machine. Can you check this?
