Guys, I have a problem: I formatted my computer and I can’t start SQL Server 2008 Express R2. When I click on the icon to initialize the following message appears:

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio - An error occurred while trying to access the license validation file. Reinstall Sql Server to fix this file.

I installed SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio.

I’ve reinstalled several times and it doesn’t work. Someone help me by doing the favor?

Files used for installation:

  • Sqlexpr_x64_enu.exe
  • Sqlmanagementstudio_x64_enu.exe

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

  • This version Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2 Express; Which site files do I need to download? the same as mentioned above?(Sqlexpr_x64_enu.exe Sqlmanagementstudio_x64_enu.exe) Can I install 2012 with 2008 installed? Regarding license can I use without paying? ( not working with development) Thanks!

  • You can install with 2008. Possibly the installer will ask to update the instance. You can use without paying.
