Editing of captured fabrics for making manuals

[Note: goal: I know it’s not about programming, but I’m not sure about the limits of Stack Overflow PT yet, so it’s also a test for our site.]

At the end of the software development, it was time to prepare a manual for the user. For this, I need to capture some screens and make some edits:

  • apply a Blur / blur somewhere on the screen;
  • apply a mask that leaves a part of the screen faded and a region more highlighted, as if it had illuminated;
  • draw rectangles around parts of the screen to highlight some function;
  • add arrows to indicate parts of the screen;
  • add text to explain parts of the canvas.

Is there any software to do this? At first any image editing program would be useful, but there is always something missing in the programs I use. For example. , in Gimp it is not easy to add rectangles and arrows.

[goal: another point, about responses: maybe it was the case that each answer only indicated one programme, so that the most useful programmes could be voted on more]

    The question is an interesting problem, but in its present form there will be many answers based on a personal opinion. Let’s wait to see what the community thinks but I’m "holding" the vote to close as "mostly based on opinions".

  • @Zuul may not, as there may be an answer to "there is XYZ software that allows Blur filters, geometric drawings, arrows that can be positioned in either direction and write text with various colors/fonts".

  • Illustrator does all this. Probably other vector editing tools as well.

  • @woliveirajr I am not against you, far from it, but I am a Designer for +/- 18 years and I tell you, there is a huge range of applications for this purpose. On the other hand we must not forget that your problem lies in the "grey zone" of related programming, but it is clearly not a problem of programming and its derivatives :)

  • I voted out of context. I do not agree with the previous vows to be "too broad".

  • @woliveirajr: As for the software, I think Adobe Indesign is an excellent option for quality printed materials, if it involves formatting the text blocks as well. If to use on screen, depends on the output format, most likely Illustrator or even Photoshop would solve. Has several ready arrows in photoshop yes, in the tool "Custom Shape".

There is not an ideal tool for this confection, but a set of tools.

The Microsoft Word has the following resources:

  • Draw rectangles around parts of the screen to highlight some function;
  • Add arrows to indicate parts of the screen;
  • Add text to explain parts of the canvas.

It also has several types of indexes (analytical, remissive) and various text formatting features.

For image editing, there is the Adobe Photoshop. It has the following features:

  • Apply a Blur / blur somewhere on the screen;
  • Apply a mask that leaves a part of the screen faded and a more highlighted region, as if it had illuminated;

Alternatively, there are free solutions for this type of editing:

Word Processors

Image Editors

Maybe that answer in Software Recommendations be useful to you.

Using the Picpick you can capture the images and already work with them in the form of "whiteboard", can make indications, annotations and other things.

The tool provides several features to work with the image, such as shadows, motion Blur etc.
