My notebook (Dell Inspiron 14r 5437) already had windows 8.1 installed. I intend to install Ubuntu in dual boot, however I am having the following error after splitting the required partitions:
The Partition table format in use on your Disks normally requires you to create a Separate Partition for boot Loader code. This Partition should be marked for use as a "Reserved BIOS boot area" and should be at least 1 MB in size. Note that this is not the same as a Partition Mounted on /boot. If you do not go back to the partitioning menu and correct this error, boot Loader installation may fail later, Although it may still be possible to install the boot Loader to a Partition.
Follow this tutorial and after part 6 where I click to install appears the above message, having the option to continue (with the risks alerted) or to go back and correct, but I was in doubt, because in the tutorials I saw this message did not appear.

Your laptop is new probably has UEFI. Check out this link [http://askubuntu.com/questions/458947/should-i-create-the-reserved-bios-boot-area-partition] .

That’s right. Disable UEFI and disable boot in safe mode so that Grub is enabled on boot.
