Good people like me who only use idhttp.get with http on Delphi 7 indy9 standard, which is simple and does not require dll ... it runs on Win8? 'Cause I’ve researched and I only see people saying updates to the 10 but I don’t see the need so the question is Delphi 7 indy9 standard wheel Win8 or not?

I can’t say, but using a technology that uses a network created 13 years ago and that doesn’t receive updates is insane.

  • Thanks buddy for the reply ... I tested and for some who still have doubts the standard Indy 9 Delphi 7 unfortunately does not work in windows 8 ... So let’s update the Indy people rsrs.

  • I have system running full of idhttp done with D7/Indy 9 and running a wonder on Windows 8 and 10. Unless you want some very new feature that there was at the time switch to Indy 10, but if it is only because of idHTTP there is no need

The indy9 works yes in windows 8, the issue is not S.O but the technologies used in the use of the protocol(s) (smtp and cia) and network(media) that has been constantly updated. For example the type of authentication ( Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL) ) that in indy10 has a very satisfactory implementation, also has the TLS and SSL versions supported by Tidssliohandlersocketopenssl. Summing up the Indy9 certainly still works, however, it is surely better to upgrade to the 10 or higher. To avoid compatibility problems with some smtp servers when trying to send your emails.
