I’d like to know how the iOS app distribution process works outside of the Appstore. I would like to perform the process as the "Appnana", in which when you enter their website (www.appnana.com) through an iDevice, you are requested to install the application. *NOTE: This is not a desktop shortcut only, as the app is actually installed and loaded into iDevice.

The goal is to provide the . ipa of my app to everyone who wants to download, as well as Appnana. What is the scheme and how much it costs?

You need the iOS Developer Enterprise Program (200 dollars more than the regular program that costs 99 dollars, or 299 dollars), which in addition to other advantages, will allow you to distribute proprietary applications hosted on your own server.

I believe that the idea of this program is for internal use of companies, but ended up being used for other purposes as in the example you cited, which still, I think does not hurt the policy of Apple.

On this page support of Apple you can see the process that happens when installing this type of application, and that they recommend to users that it be installed only if the server is safe and operated by the company itself.

  • Has a limit of people or iDevices who can download the app?

  • In this program there are no limitations to distribution.

  • Is there any way to distribute my . ipa without costs ? Or without an account to develop ?

  • Legally, following Apple’s policy, unfortunately not.
