How does the inline-size property work?

I was snooping around the browser console tweaking an element, and I noticed that Google Chrome completed a property called inline-size. I don’t remember seeing this property before, but I did notice that it affects the size of the elements that use the same.

I researched her, but I saw little explanation about her.

I had some doubts:

  • This is new property?
  • How does it work? What problem does it solve?
  • Which browsers have support?
  • It has some relation to elements that have the attribute display with the values prefixed by inline-?
