Error publishing Power BI report on Workspace

Good afternoon I have the following structure mounted on my personal machine:

SQL Server -> Server Analysis service -> Power BI -> Power BI report published on the Web.

Everything works perfectly in direct Query mode, except when I publish the report on the web, where I get the error =

This report cannot access the data source. Please contact [My user], the author to perform the correction.

Important data:

  • This error only occurs in direct Query mode, in load mode works perfectly, this shows that the Gateway works perfectly.
  • The database published on the Web receives updates without problem.
  • My user created and has administrator access at all stages of the process.
  • Use the latest version of Power BI gateway.
  • Note that the error says that the report cannot access the data source that in the case of the data. Says nothing about access permission.

Finally, the report only does not work in the Directquery mode published on the Web, for me the web report does not communicate with the database that is on the Web. I’ve been testing with Microsoft for 3 months and even they don’t know what’s going on.

Has anyone ever had the misfortune to go through it, or has a tip, because we’ve tried everything.

I’ll put some images to try to illustrate.

After many tests and analysis with the Microsoft team we found the problem.

To use the local Analisys Service in connection with Power BI, it is mandatory to use Active Directory as a form of authentication. Without an active directory deployed on-premises or in the cloud you cannot use Power BI in connection with the analysis service.

This even Microsoft itself could not inform at first, it took several months of tests and attempts, with microsoft teams from other countries, and in the end I found the reason in a video on youtube.

I hope I’ve helped.
