how do I add a thumbnail to my site in html, like, so I type your url into facebook for example it would show a clickable image, the same way it looks if you type in the google address (it shows kind of a google banner).

It is not possible with HTML only, you would need to make at least one request to the URL... There is https://ogp.me/ which is a standard developed by Facebook to do this kind of thing, so every page contains meta-data so that you can only read the raw HTML of the page and access such data
