I posted on the other site of the Stackexchange network (Superuser) in English, asking for help on my problem, but no one could solve it. I don’t know if I can post this kind of question here, but if anyone can help me I’m grateful.

After an upgrade my Windows Server 2008 R2 started to face problems with IIS (version 7).

Whenever I try to start IIS presents me with the message "Could not start due to dependency group", always something like this. I checked all the dependent services and nothing.

When trying to start dependent service I get errors like:

Remarks:

  • I cannot perform system restore due to large amount of files and programs that will be lost.
  • Problem appeared only after upgrading, IIS works correctly before.
  • Routine update.
  • I’ve reinstalled the OSI several times.
  • I have removed, renamed the folder "Inetpub" several times, and reinstalled.
  • I have tried to start individually or stop dependent services, but it gives the same error.
  • Tiago, I don’t know if your question will be treated as outside the scope, but have you tried reversing the update with a problem? Have you checked what the Event Viewer says ?

  • Sorry for the delay, I already checked, but the mistakes are the same as the above capture. I have put that question to one side for trying countless times to solve this problem and unsuccessfully.

Follow these steps to solve the problem:

  1. Go on the Server Manager type to search in the start menu.
  2. Open the tab: Functions >> Remove functions and remove all IIS/Web Server related functions.
  3. After deleting you will need to restart the server. Restart.
  4. Then again on the panel function click on Remove Services from Function, also remove anything that relates to IIS/Web Server, FTP, anything of the kind, if necessary also remove the DNS server if you use.
  5. Reboot and reinstall all items.
