In languages such as PHP and Java, for example, tests follow the concept of unit testing. In the Javascript world they say the approach is a little different and terminology is being disseminated Behavior Driven Design (BDD).

Disregarding the differences between the languages cited, in this link says BDD has a conceptual difference:

  • BDD is an Agile development technique that encourages collaboration between developers, quality sectors and non-technical or business people in a software project, relates to the concept of verification and validation.

Sincerely "is an agile development technique that encourages collaboration between developers" confused me.

Don’t Junit and Phpunit share this same concept? I couldn’t understand the difference that the Javascript tests may be different from the tests applied in Junit or Phpunit.

I’m glad you’re confused because all that’s written there is bull shit. There are a lot of people *$%#@! a lot re rule that doesn’t understand and expects others to understand and do what they’re told. It’s usually second-hand content to generate content at any price. Anyone who has a little experience (real) reads the sentence and turns on the alert on time because there doesn’t mean anything. The people who create these things have never proven that it gives a good result.

It is always important to note that the fact that someone has formalized a concept has no relation to it being good or not. In recent decades unfortunately what has more in IT is people disqualified trying to compensate by publishing random documents not to die in oblivion.
