Doing SEO maintenance of my site, I deleted all TAGS registered by many are no longer valid:

Wordpress link for editing tags: wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=post_tag

In Yoast SEO, in the "Taxionimias" tab, in the option Tags (post_tag) marked as "NO" the option Mostrar Tags nos resultados de pesquisa?.

I sent the sitemap.xml to the Google console and even asked to re-release the site, but still showing the "tags" in the search result, even if they do not exist, which leads to the user a bad experience because there is nothing.

Look at: THE RESULT Google search link with site:meusite.com.br still with the tags

How can I make Google not index the "Tags" that no longer exist?

PS: It has been time to reindexe and read XML, which is 4 weeks since I removed all tags.

In this link you get more information about sitemap. https://resultsdigitais.com.br/blog/sitemap-xml/ You must adjust to prevent indexing, redirecting and listing new addresses. In the Google Search Console (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home) you can check and request new indexing.

After much research, the answer was to create a lock via bot.

  1. I created a Robots.txt file with:

    Disallow: /tag/

  2. I sent this file to the root of the site.

  3. In Google Console I asked to reindexar the site.

Done. No more showing tags.

PS: Reading the Google documentation, there is the result "Page 1 -", "Page 2 -", but they do not recommend blocking the indexing of "/page/" because it disturbs the indexing, so this is no problem.

For using Neil Patel’s Ubbersugest, his tool says it’s a problem, but the Google documentation says that you should not ban the "/page/" that can disrupt website indexing.
