Yesterday I submitted an App that is made only for iPhone, and not for iPad, as requested by the customer, but my app was rejected because it does not run properly on an iPad.

Reason for Rejection:

Reasons

2.10: iPhone Apps must also run on iPad without modification, at iPhone Resolution, and at 2X iPhone 3GS Resolution ----- 2.10 -----

We found that your app Did not Meet the Requirements for running on iPad, as required by the App Store Review Guidelines.

Your app Did not run at iPhone Resolution when reviewed on iPad. While your app may be built for iPhone or iPod, it must still run on iPad, at iPhone Resolution and at 2x iPhone 3GS Resolution.

For information on iOS device screen Sizes and resolutions, see Points versus Pixels, in the View Programming Guide for iOS. For code-level questions, you may Wish to Consult with Apple Developer Technical Support. When the DTS Engineer Follows up with you, Please be ready to provide:

  • complete Details of your rejection Issue(s)
  • screenshots
  • Steps to reproduce the Issue(s)
  • symbolicated crash logs - if your Issue Results in a crash log

If you have difficulty reproducing a reported Issue, Please Try testing the workflow as described in https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/qa/qa1764/Technical Q&A QA1764: How to reproduce a crash or bug that only App Review or users are Seeing.

I got it right or Apple wants to force us to develop apps for both models (iPad and iPhone)???

  • Strange, Whatsapp for example does not run on iPad.

  • Seriously? even if it is iPad with 3G (with chip)??? @bfavaretto

  • Hm, I’ve never tried it on 3G, only on Wi-Fi. And then it makes sense even not to have run it (== or let me download from the app store)

It is pq the Wpp requires a telephone number as a record, and as a unique ID. : So much so that to change phone and keep up with the chat backup has q go through another registration process and emaik confirmation

  • Well, what I got from the message (I may be wrong again, rs) is that even an iPhone app needs to run on iPad without change, in the specified resolutions. This does not mean that you are required to publish the app as iPhone/iPad. From what I understand, you have some problem solving.

  • kkkk Pow, if I make an iPhone app, which can be run on an iPad, and MUST make its interface run on an iPad, will tell me I’m not being forced to do for the iPhone E app for iPad?

It needs to run on the iPad in that "little window", as if it had an iPhone screen inside the iPad screen.

The problem ai is of text interpretation.

Emphasis on the following points:

2.10: iPhone Apps must also run on iPad without modification, at iPhone Resolution (...)

And

Your app Did not run at iPhone Resolution when reviewed on iPad.

Translating:

2.10: iPhone apps must also run on Fondle-Slab iPad, no modifications, same resolution as on the phone (...)

And

Your app didn’t run in resolution on an iPhone when reviewed on an iPad.

In short... someone at Apple took your build, put it on an iPad, and the screen got the wrong size. Make sure you have the same resolution on both devices (or double on your iPad if your test iPhone is the 3GS) that people there let you through.

I made the screen increase the elements, or realocasse proportionally, and resubmitted the app. I hope you solve it... I’ll let you know if it worked.

According to Apple although some App’s are not made for iPad, they must maintain minimum compatibility, and offer an auto screen adjustment, so the user can use it problems.

Although I am against this attitude of Apple, unfortunately I had to give in to get my app approved.

But I asked about app’s that don’t have an iPad version, and they don’t even show up on the iTunes Store of the iPads, and they didn’t answer me at all.

Conclusion: Auto resize layout in your apps so they can be run on screens of different sizes, including the iPad screen.
