How to disable Bootstrap 4 Popover on mobile only?

Today I use Popover in some places of my site, but I wish they did not appear in the mobile version. There is something in the call script that I can do so that it only appears in the desktop version?

<script>
$(function () {
    $('[data-toggle="popover"]').popover()
    })
</script>

Researching in documentation I didn’t see any option that disables Popover by screen resolution or device type. One way would be to apply a display: none in class .popover (native class of popovers) in a given breakpoint via CSS @media.

Assuming the site goes into mobile mode at a resolution of 768px down, put the rule at the end of your CSS:

@media screen and (max-width: 768px){
   .popover{
      display: none !important;
   }
}

Example:

$(document).ready(function(){
    $('[data-toggle="popover"]').popover();
});
@media screen and (max-width: 768px){
   .popover{
      display: none !important;
   }
}
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.0.0-beta/css/bootstrap.min.css" integrity="sha384-/Y6pD6FV/Vv2HJnA6t+vslU6fwYXjCFtcEpHbNJ0lyAFsXTsjBbfaDjzALeQsN6M" crossorigin="anonymous">
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/popper.js/1.11.0/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.0.0-beta/js/bootstrap.min.js" integrity="sha384-h0AbiXch4ZDo7tp9hKZ4TsHbi047NrKGLO3SEJAg45jXxnGIfYzk4Si90RDIqNm1" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>

<a href="#" data-toggle="popover" title="Popover Header" data-content="Some content inside the popover">Toggle popover</a>

By clicking on the example link, the Popover is hidden. If you run the above snippet in full screen (which will be larger than 768px) the Popover will appear normally.

Note that screen resolution does not mean "device type". Many mobile devices have high resolutions (tablets, large-screen smartphones), so if the page opens on one of these devices and has a higher resolution than the breakpoint of @media, Popover will appear normally.

There is a Javascript function in this answer which detects when the device is actually mobile and not a notebook or desktop, regardless of screen resolution. You can use it to disable Popover via Javascript, but since it’s a function from some time ago, I can’t guarantee that it will work on 100% of the devices, however, on all the mobile devices I tested, it worked on all.

Using the Javascript function, you don’t need to insert the rule into the CSS and it would look like this:

$(document).ready(function(){

   function ehMovel(){
      if(/(android|bb\d+|meego).+mobile|avantgo|bada\/|blackberry|blazer|compal|elaine|fennec|hiptop|iemobile|ip(hone|od)|ipad|iris|kindle|Android|Silk|lge |maemo|midp|mmp|netfront|opera m(ob|in)i|palm( os)?|phone|p(ixi|re)\/|plucker|pocket|psp|series(4|6)0|symbian|treo|up\.(browser|link)|vodafone|wap|windows (ce|phone)|xda|xiino/i.test(navigator.userAgent)
