I’m running the default Codeblocks code for Opengl on Ubuntu:

/*
 * GLUT Shapes Demo
 *
 * Written by Nigel Stewart November 2003
 *
 * This program is test harness for the sphere, cone
 * and torus shapes in GLUT.
 *
 * Spinning wireframe and smooth shaded shapes are
 * displayed until the ESC or q key is pressed. The
 * number of geometry stacks and slices can be adjusted
 * using the + and - keys.

}

But when I compile/execute, the following error is displayed for me:

g++ -L/usr/lib -o bin/Debug/teste obj/Debug/main.o   -lglut -lGL -lGLU -lXxf86vm
/usr/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-ld: não foi possível localizar -lGL
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
Process terminated with status 1 (0 minute(s), 0 second(s))
1 error(s), 0 warning(s) (0 minute(s), 0 second(s))

Does anyone have any idea what that means? I have tried several ways to solve the problem, including with solutions here from Stackoverflow but nothing solved my problem...

  • Hello Eduardo. What is the architecture of your system? (x86 or x64) And if possible, as you set up the Opengl?

  • Hello!! My architecture is x64. I installed the freeglut packages and linked to "/usr/lib". In the folder there is already a libGL.so file but I can’t run anything...

  • Since I don’t know exactly how your environment is, I would suggest that you redo the installation of Opengl, by the same Ubuntu default repository. This wiki can be useful to you. Any question can speak ;)

  • I managed to remove everything and proceed with the resettlement of the same... I don’t know if there is any difference but before, when I tried to remove and reinstall, I was not using "sudo apt-get autoremove" after using purge and this time I used and it worked! Thank you very much!!

  • It may have been some symbolic link that broke and complained of lack of dependence, when gave the purge cleaned up, glad it worked out ;)

I was able to get Codeblocks to identify libraries as follows:

  • Dei: sudo apt-get purge libgl1-mesa-dev and sudo apt-get autoremove
  • I did the reinstallation of everything using: sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dev and sudo apt-get install libglew-dev freeglut3-dev libglm-dev
  • I ran the sample project of the Glu library that already comes in Codeblocks and ran all right.

Note: The installation already made the links automatically for me, I did not need to do any action of this type.
