I didn’t quite understand what that would be Bootstrapping. I saw something that was a way to initialize an application.

I’m not talking about Twitter Bootstrap.

Now you can see that the doubt has to do with the multiplicity of senses, improved a lot. It is worth saying that this has yielded long discussions on the site Meta, to precisely determine the use of the tag bootstrap

Bootstrapping is the action of starting something on its own. Even this term in programming has at least two contexts.

When something starts and prepares the environment for what it matters to run is a process of boot. The most common is an operating system that loads a basic software to then load the rest of the operating system which is what matters. Iso can occur with other types of software, especially platforms such as web (Electron), or Vms such as . NET or JVM, just to name a few.

It can be you doing something with an existing technology to create a new technology and then switch to the technology created, probably to continue with it.

Think about the problem of the egg and the chicken, who was born first?

I speak of this as an example in How is a compiler made?.

To get an idea of the amount of meanings just visit the Wikipedia. I highlight the use in statistics and derived areas used in computing.
