Proxy authentication in Cinnamon

I am configuring a Linux Ubuntu machine with gàafica interface with Cinnamon 3, but are not able to make Google Chrome open a proxy authentication window, I know that Google Chrome uses a proxy authentication system other than Firefox (which can be set directly in the browser config) because it pulls the S.O proxy.

I’m using a.Pac proxy (also tried by address and port) with my proxy settings, when I add the file to the system proxy, Chrome recognizes the file but does not open the authentication window.

I even set it up in apt.conf, also in /etc/profile. I also set in the shortcut the command --proxy-server="IP proxy Server:port" but without success.

The strange thing is that in KDE it works so much with . as for server:port, in gnome it only works with server:port (both configured in system proxy options) but in Cinnamon it does not work with either of the two modes.

In Chromium I saw that there are people who managed to use it. Someone has already gone through it and managed to get around the problem?

Thank you.

  • the flag --proxy-server has to work because according to the documentation it runs over all other proxy configuration sources for Chromium. What kind of proxy do you use? He asks for authentication with login and password? If yes, you can use PAC (proxy login Automator), or an http server as a reverse proxy, or Cntlm to authenticate in your proxy and open a local port to use in your browser configuration.
