Recently I saw some gists with a content called Keybase Proof. Is that any way to prove identity? How does it work?

NOTE: I know this question may not be considered a topic for the site, but it is related to github, so I think it is pertinent to be in stackoverflow, since it can fit in the item common tools among programmers contained in help center.

And an archive of the site https://keybase.io/ it serves to tell Keybase that you actually own the github account.

Keybase looks like a social network, but its users have security keys, which allows validating the messages exchanged between them, as well as signing and encrypting messages.

Yes the site reads the gits and sees who posted the message, and deduces that if you posted the secret message of your account is because you really have access to gits. the code that is posted there and unique to each user and has nothing secret in it
