I don’t remember my Ubuntu bash user password on Windows 10 how do I create a new password for my user?

  • I don’t understand why you thought it was off-limits. Knowing how to do a password reset of my Windows-10 Ubuntu bash user seems to me a knowledge not only useful but related to programming theme.?

  • For me comes in Tools typically used by developers performing their function by programming, debugging, preparing or deploying software and controlling the process. Have this question that I think if mine is out of scope it is also https://answall.com/questions/91887/como-posso-encontrar-o-utilizador-no-ubuntu-shell-bash?rq=1

If you think you’re inside the scope, there’s the button reopen just below the question. If 4 more people agree, the question will be reopened. If you think this other one you quoted would also be out of scope, for that there is the button signal and, similarly, if other users agree, it will be closed. That’s how the community works.

  • thanks for the reply Anderson

If possible, try to uninstall Ubuntu, and then reinstall, then it will ask again the data to create the user.

lxrun /uninstall /full

lxrun /install

Who downvote probably did not examine in depth the possible options.

I believe that the downvote has to do with the question being Offtopic, only the source that Voce thought would prove it.

  • It is not off-topic, as Stackoverflow also encompasses the use of the tools used in programming.

The question is not about a tool. Both closed and out of scope.

  • WSL is not a programming tool?

  • Why can’t you have questions about programming tools? What’s the point of this?

  • @RobertoLeitedeMoraes https://pt.meta.stackoverflow.com/q/264/28595

  • It reads "Tools normally used by developers performing their function by programming, debugging, preparing or deploying software and controlling the process."

  • Even if the question were off-topic, the most correct and gentle would be to comment, move, or close it.

@Tony she was closed, just check up on her.

  • Improperly closed, because the WSL is a programming tool, is the Linux bash on Windows.

  • as I commented in the question I think that with this criterion have other questions that have to be removed also by being out of scope as: https://answall.com/questions/91887/como-posso-encontrar-o-utilizador-no-ubuntu-shell-bash?rq=1

  • Okay, after running these commands from the link you found (I had also seen this before, but found it more complicated), tell me if this worked for you.

  • the other one I found worked, I’ll test yours too

  • @Tony, I just made your suggestion. It really seems easier, they are two commands, but when it comes to executing it takes a lot longer, you have to re-start the machine, and then do the bash configuration, summarizing. has an advantage that with the new configuration you have a greater control than you did, but in the end the other found less complicated and much faster.

  • Okay, you can answer your own question and mark it as an answer, to help others who search for it. You can +1 my answer too.

  • @Tony as soon as I get enough score I’ll do it, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
