I’m starting with Javascript and a friend told me that jQuery is being set aside, is that true? If so, why is he being left out? What would be an alternative to jQuery?

Particularly: I believe that jQuery is a large, well-documented, regularly updated, feature-rich and user-friendly library... but I don’t see a need for it on Javascript and its native browser features, so I always end up using only Javascript; but it is personal opinion, if you look at the jQuery market is still quite used
