Digitally sign documents using Citizen Card Digital Mobile Key

I developed an APP in Apache Cordova (HTML5 and Javascript), which is in production and already has thousands of users, and now I need users, Portuguese citizens, to sign a document digitally. Public Administration in Portugal has a Digital Mobile Key which allows citizens to be authenticated via an SMS to their mobile phone, also allowing digital signature.

Is anyone aware of any API or code required to sign? I’m doing a lot of research, but the documentation is very scarce.

The "Frequently Asked Questions" of the website, available at

https://www.autenticacao.gov.pt/cmd-faqs

mentions this:

I can install the Digital Mobile Key authentication mechanism on my web service?

This service is only available to Public Administration entities. To perform the integration with this authentication method you can contact the Agency for Administrative Modernization (AMA) through the contact [email protected].

I think the best is to contact by the email indicated on the site.

If you do not represent a Public Administration entity, you may still be able to find some other way to identify the user by having them sign a document generated by you, and you check the validity of the document, but it is mere speculation of mine.

Just an update. I contacted them and presented prices for service use, prohibitive and ridiculously high. This is how the "public service".

The Digital Mobile Key (CMD) service is already available for use by private entities. However this service has an associated cost depending on the volume of authentications/signatures.

To receive information on how to access the service send an email with the request for information to [email protected].

I confirm. And the cost is simply ridiculous of such an astronomical.

  • I agree, it’s ridiculous that what should be a public service should be used to do business.
