It is possible to leave in Portuguese the tips of <summary> methods existing in . NET or third-party components in Visual Studio?

Write the content in Portuguese or define the tag in Portuguese?

  • When we use a ready-made method in C#, ex: Convert.toint32(); And we’re excreting it, a hint appears with the parameters we should pass right? only that appears in English, I wonder if you have how to leave in Portuguese.

  • This kind of question doesn’t work around here, from a read just below your post to know why. How much the documentation part is only download one in English! It goes in the MSDN that you find!

@Premiere What’s wrong with the question? He has a doubt that is now clearer (after the explanation he gave in the comment), is within the topics of the site, is not based on opinions and is far from broad. I’m just waiting to reopen to answer.

  • I believe that this doubt is not only related to C#, Java, for example, also uses <summary>.

In fact you already know that the hints that Visual Studio shows are obtained in the descriptions of tags <summary> contained in the methods documentation. And you should understand that it is programmers who probably write this. When you write a method and create a summary of the method you probably do it in Portuguese and VS shows it in Portuguese. A programmer in the United States probably writes these tips in English and this is what will be shown to all programmers in the world.

This does not come from a special file produced by a team that locates products. It is not in archives Resource, for example. This already gives a hint that although possible is unlikely to have someone doing all these descriptions in the codes.

Other information like parameter names will appear. Do you want them to be translated as well? And then the method names should also be? So we got to the Excel problem where the functions were translated and there is incompatibility between files from different languages, which is absurd. Imagine the mess that would turn you into reading something in Portuguese and programming it in English.

Not even the most complete official . NET documentation is translated (except by automatic translation). Microsoft, like almost everyone else, considers that a programmer needs to know at least the basics of English to be able to code decently and that neither documentation nor even most programming tools need translation. Recently there is Visual Studio in Portuguese and I do not know if the translation is complete, or if it should exist.

Even if Microsoft chooses to provide descriptions in English, other vendors will not do so.

It is possible to get translations, of course, but someone will have to arrange this. That is, unless there is something very well hidden in VS it is not possible to get what you want in a viable way.
