What is the difference between "Instant Apps" and "Progressive Web Apps" (PWA)

I’ve heard a lot about Instant Apps and Progressive Web Apps (PWA). I saw that they have some things in common, but as I am layman in the area I was left with some doubts.

  • What would be in fact the advantages of one goes up the other (pros and cons / Android x iOS)?
  • Which one is safer and performs better?
  • In the long run one will prevail and the other may die, one can replace the other?
