pygame.time.Clock.tick() why not use 60?

Why do most people use 40 instead of 60? 60 fps is no longer considered ideal? Is there a recommendation to use 40? And if I just call the method tick parameter-less?

    In fact, it depends more on the eye’s ability to generate distinct images. If I’m not mistaken, the human eye can do 24 frames per second. A rate of 48 frames per second is twice the human capacity, making the images very smooth. I don’t think there is much difference with 60 per second, but it will cost a lot more processing to the game

    I would like to turn that into an answer to be voted on?

    I’m not so sure about the frequency of the human eye, just like to answer when I have property to talk about it. A minimum. I still need to study a little more. Maybe later this week I can, maybe I’ll forget and someone with knowledge of cause will give a better answer than would be mine.
