I recently started studying Nodejs in its V6.11.3 version and after a confusion between the official website documentations, I found that Nodejs has another version available, the 8.6. I was very confused when I saw this, and I wanted to know why the two versions exist, what are their differences, which has the best performance, etc.
There is no reason for separation, just like every program, always receives an update.

See this question here at Sopt, How to define a software version?

I don’t understand your comparison.

I meant that a program always gets improvements because that there are different versions. the link to the question I gave you explains how versioning works.

Right, but the thing about Node is that they exist simultaneously, and they get separate updates, as if they were two different projects. I just want to know why it happens and the difference in versions.

That question has already been asked here Why Nodejs has versions 4.x, 5.x, 6.x and 0.1x.x, etc

Thank you, I had already searched but without success.
