Is it wrong to have header and Section tags and not have a footer?

I have a single page application, very simple even, and used the tags header and section, without creating a footer, because I found it unnecessary.

Is there a rule or recommendation about this? Can I use a tag header without necessarily possessing a footer?

No, they are completely independent, you use each one according to your need, if you don’t have a footer just don’t use.

On the other hand you could create a simple footer by placing an instruction or by putting the company name, system version, something that leaves nothing.

From a technical point of view, it is perfectly valid from the point of view of design it would be interesting to have some useful information, just don’t feel obliged.

  • Very good your explanation, thank you.

  • Yesterday I was seeing a little bit more about semantics and I think I had seen a text element that can be used inside the footer for copyright for example but I can’t remember, there really is?

@Moraisvilson is the <footer> even, what people usually do is inside a <small> also, but this is style only. You can vote for everything on the site too.
