I am developing a mobile application with Xamarin. This application is a screen to authorize or not discount above authorized by sellers. So I have a web service that goes into the bank and takes all relevant information to the customer and feeds the application that will be in the hand of those who have power to authorize.
The web service should be hosted in the same way as a website? In this case, probably on an intranet, probably, I’m still not sure.

Hosting essentially yes. Or not, it depends on the technology used, but not the functionality.
For tags is using the Web API, which seems right to me. What differentiates this technology from MVC is that it does not generate a view is a data to be processed by the client. The way this will server does not change anything.
If you have any reason to host differently it is requirement of the application not because it is a web service.

Big, we will use webapi as back end and Rest services for this and mobile(front) will consume this. This question the client asked me, regarding hosting.
