I have a demand in hand, the company I work will migrate Office on premise to the online, IE, the office will be uninstalled from the machine and started to use the online. As we use here from Sharepoint 2007 to 2013, I would like to know if 2007 and 2010 will be able to use the resources of office 365, for everyday, how to open word files, excel, ppt and export to spreadsheets.

Uninstalling Office from users' machines is unnecessary unless you have any licensing issues.

Sharepoint 2010 already had some level of integration with Office 365, but since this is a cloud solution and not a shelf solution, any information that is valid today will not necessarily be valid tomorrow. Ideally align this with Microsoft support.

If you go to the Office Online model, the everyday use of Office will certainly be smooth (as long as you have decent machines and plenty of bandwidth).

Your biggest concern will be Event receivers, deploy of websites and the loss of various features that the on-premises but that the online does not. I predict that you will spend a good time browsing another stack, the http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com.

  • Thanks Renan, was of great help... I will contact microsoft then, and I will take a look at the link. Thanks again
