bbPress official translation into Portuguese

I couldn’t find any official bbPress download for the Portuguese language. I found in Google all kind of suggestion but I believe it is for old versions of bbPress plugin.

Already installed and is fully functional, but missing the . po / .mo. files if not, how do I translate the plugin?

  • I didn’t know very well the translation process of Wordpress plugins and I thought there could be a translation repository. @joão-Paraná clarified how to do the translation and the brasofilo suggested to do on the Site. There were two good proposals and it is a pity that less than 1% is translated to Portuguese.

    I don’t quite understand why you’re shutting down here. Those who voted to close, was it because it was a recommendation request (there is/where is the translation) or because it is not clear even? @brasofilo Marco you here because you are the expert on wordpress.

    It is not programming but is related to setting environment (in the case of Wordpress) and in addition software internationalization is a subject of great interest to Brazilians.

    In fact, the point raised by the admin-absolute is very valid; the programs involved are popular; the response of João Paraná is very good; I can contribute something useful... anyway, I have just proposed software internationalization as on-topic there at the Meta. And since I think I made a mistake, I’m gonna reverse my closing vote for a reopening.

  • Legal @brasofilo, for now my mission here is accomplished. I’ll keep an eye on the question, if it ends up forgotten closed, after a while I can reopen.

If you already have an account at http://translate.wordpress.org use it otherwise create one and log.

Then download the files .po and .mo, version 2.4 or later in http://translate.wordpress.org/projects/bbpress/2.4.x/pt-br/default/export-translations .

CORRECTION: The correct link is http://translate.wordpress.org/projects/bbpress/dev/pt-br/default as commented by @brasofilo. The link to version 2.4 that appears on the bbPress website is outdated and should not be used !

Suppose the files were downloaded to ~/Downloads and your site is at ~/www: 

cd ~/www
cp ~/Downloads/bbpress-dev-pt-br.po  wp-content/languages/bbpress/bbpress-pt_BR.po
cp ~/Downloads/bbpress-dev-pt-br.mo  wp-content/languages/bbpress/bbpress-pt_BR.mo
# conferindo ...

  • It is worth noting that it would be very good translate there on the website before downloading. This way the translation will be incorporated into the project and will be available to the whole community.
