Make sure you didn’t just install Management Studio. Make sure you also installed Server.

  • Check if in the installation, you used for instance or in Default.
  • Check that the service has started:

If you have not installed the SQL Service (Localdb), you can use the steps in this link:How to install SQL Server 2008 (Installation

  • did not find the service. And I don’t remember if it was by instance or Default. In this case, how should I proceed, it would be better to reinstall the program?

So you probably just installed Studio and didn’t install Localdb (which is the local server). You can download the latest version of SQL Server Express (Localdb) https://www.microsoft.com/pt-br/sql-server/sql-server-editions-express here. You will have to run a new installation.

  • Then I need to reinstall Sql server 2008 and then Localdb?

I found a step by step with images : http://wiki.websolute.com.br/Como_Instalar_o_Microsoft_SQL_Server_2008_Express_Edition_em_uma_VPS%3F . You need to install the local server and not just Studio.
