Jpa does not create column @lob

I’m mapping a field @lob to save image to a table, but jpa creates the table, but does not create the column. I created the column manually in MYSQL, but then the bytes do not persist either.

My Entity:

@Entity
@Table(name = "TB_IMAGEM")
public class Imagem  {

@Id
@GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
private Long id;

@Lob
@Column(name = "IMAGE_CONTENT")
private byte[] imagemByte;//não cria somente essa coluna, se crio manualmente, não persiste e nem Lê essa coluna

//getters e setters
}

My persistence.xml:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<persistence version="2.0"
    xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_2_0.xsd">
<persistence-unit name="primary">
    <jta-data-source>java:jboss/datasources/meuDataSource</jta-data-source>
    <properties>
        <property name="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto" value="create-drop" />
        <property name="hibernate.show_sql" value="true" />
        <property name="hibernate.dialect" value="org.hibernate.dialect.MySQLDialect" />

    </properties>
</persistence-unit>

In the console it creates the table, but not the blob column.

15:23:28 INFO [stdout] (Serverservice Thread Pool -- 70) Hibernate: create table TB_IMAGEM (ID_IMAGEM bigint not null auto_increment Primary key (ID_IMAGEM))

I am using JPA 2.1, Hibernate-jpa-2.1-api-1 library. 0.0.Final. jar

I am using MYSQL 5.5, Hibernate 4.1.1

  • Which version of Hibernate are you using? And Mysql? If you’re using Maven, edit your question and ask your own pom.xml, please.

  • I am using MYSQL 5.5, Hibernate 4.1.1. Thank you.

  • Maybe there is a problem with your dependencies. You have declared the following dependency hibernate-jpa-2.1-api, but JPA 2.1 is only supported by Hibernate as of version 4.3.

  • I will use the version of the newest Hibernate and tell you.

  • I upgraded the dependency to jboss-javaee-7.0-with-Hibernate and it upgraded the whole Hibernate dependency to 4.3, but it still didn’t work.

  • Do you have any idea what’s going on?
