How to create a chat app with Firebase and Android?

I want to create a chat with Android and Firebase, all the tutorials I saw on the internet are not complete.

I would like to know how to make a chat using these two tools. It does not need to look like Whatsapp, but can achieve the goal of sending and receiving messages.
