I have some questions about software licenses open-source, I hope I won’t leave the question wide, if it gets wide, let me know, but I think these questions are valid because they are the same subject.

What is the function of a license in open source software?

Same as proprietary software. It is a legal instrument that determines authorship, ownership and how the software can be used, modified, distributed, etc. It may indicate responsibilities as well.

What are the main points and what are the points that diverge it from the others?

LPG, MIT, BSD and Apache are the most widely used. Some others may be used more in certain communities or for certain needs.

Which (is) license(s) is(are) best suited(s) for open-source copyrighted codes (for copy protection)?

Any one above or others, depending on the need, the question is too generic to be answered appropriately and may even incur only opinion.
