I’d like the experience of you.
I currently use a server that is very unstable. For many times its FTP drops, and this week the server was out for 2 days.
The problem is that we don’t know when a server is going to crash and the site is going to be off the air. I would therefore like to know what measures I should take to prevent such an event, and what I should do when I fall.
Of course, when it comes to host failure, there is nothing to do, and then I would have to go for remediation, but I think about using a monitoring tool to measure traffic and stuff, so I can know in advance the "problems".
I also think the best way to remedy it is to have a host on hold, so if something happens, I switch the DNS note to the new host and my site goes live.
What would you do to prevent and remedy this sort of thing?
Sincerely changes to Amazon, never had problems with Server. It can cost more will be worth every penny invested. My opinion.

@Marconi, I was thinking that too but we have to have a bigger volume of people on the site to do this, so for now I’ll have to stay on that host. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have seen one of the oracle, it seems to be very good too, it is much more in account than Amazon. Which server you use?
– Marconi
@Marconi, I’m on Hostnet today, but it’s been out since Wednesday. I had to call them all the way from Saturday to get back to me this morning with a solution, but they’re still working on it.

William doesn’t think it’s time to change? A server that stays off the air for 5 days is a long time, and what about your clients? Would they accept that?
– Marconi
@Marconi, really it’s absurd this, kind of caught off guard... I called there at Oracle and they do not host website, only DB and RPM. Anyway we will look for another host solution. Thanks!

William Amazon offers free machines, but the hardware is not like that. I even have two free accounts there that serve me very well on my web sites.
– Marconi
@Marconi, can you tell if it’s that free machine for 1 year and then have to pay? Or is it free forever?
– William
Let’s go continue this discussion in chat.
