Namespace function beyond C#grouping

Hello I was here thinking a little bit and I came up with a little doubt regarding the use of namespace in C#, it would have some function other than the grouping of "similar objects" ?

And in a simple comparison with the Java it would have basically the same function of the packages, that’s right ?
