The xlx file extension in excel went to .xlx.crypt. I think it caught a virus. Would you know how to remove and not lose the files? Thanks for your help in advance

The solution is to recover the backup data, and preferably make a copy of what is left intact using another PC. The ransomware that you caught will do this with all your files if you keep leaving the pc on (but there is a doubt in the scope of Stackoverflow). - Put the hard drive of that PC on another machine that is not infected and back up what is left.

The question is... if I lost the data as I don’t have the backup of these files. So I would like to know if there is a possibility to recover them.

You can consider lost. Even if you pay the ransom you usually ask in such cases, you usually don’t get back.

Could you tell me what this Bacco virus is?
– Joelias Andrade
There’s a lot of those around. And this year who does not prepare is screwed, because the security companies so alert to a new take more harmful still. This type of malware has been around for a long time, but it is increasing in an alarming way. Search by generic name, "ransomware" you will find material about.

Thank you very much Bacco!

@Joeliasandrade can try something later to rescue, but Bacco is right. Take this urgent drive and save what you can. Then try some Antivirus that decrypted the version you picked up. See example here: https://noransom.kaspersky.com/ Abs and good luck!
