Long time working with MVC frameworks in PHP, such as Symfony, Laravel and Codeigniter.

Usually, when it comes to the Views structure, there are always features to facilitate the inclusion of files like Css and Javascript. Usually, they are functions or classes called assets who do this job.

Although I have understood what the functionalities of these functions are, I do not understand the meaning of the word Assets. I translated that word into Google Translate and the result was "assets".

I wonder if that word Assets is a specific term of the MVC structure, or programming in general.

Assets is a standard or just a term?

The term Asset is just a word used with a slightly different "context" than normal in English.

Asset means: active.

But it is an asset reference related to goods.

Behold:

  • Liquid Assets can be sold more quickly (Liquid assets can be sold faster)

  • Assets Held by the company in Asia (Assets held by the company in Asia)

  • The business disposed of all its capital Assets (The company has disposed of all its capital assets)

  • He transferred all his Assets into his Wife’s name (He transferred all his possessions to his wife’s name)

  • The courts can order a company’s Assets to be Frozen (Courts may order the assets of an undertaking to be frozen)

In technology the answer comes to the fact of their "Assets" be the resources of your project. Your library "bank".

In this case it can be said that the term is more an adaptation of the word from the English context to the projects themselves.
