Jquery mobile filterable select ignore accent

I am trying a select box taken from this example http://view.jquerymobile.com/master/demos/selectmenu-custom-filter/ works perfectly but when trying to filter the results by writing for example Águeda the result is null only accepting Agueda, will someone help me to convert the search so as to ignore the accents?
